An Independence Day Message from the Campbell College Republicans

Today, we celebrate the 235th birthday of the United States of America. We also take this time to honor the creators and defenders of freedom, both of the past and of present day. Without the bravery of a Continental Congress and a military that has shown dedication from wars of revolution to the wars of Iraq and Afghanistan, we would not be blessed with the tradition of freedom that defines our great country and spreads worldwide.

As Americans, we live in a world in which our opportunities are limitless and our freedoms are abundant. Our Founders established this institution when framing our independence by concluding, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

While we exercise these rights daily in politics to build upon the greatness of our country; today, we put politics aside to be a country unified in common heritage and goal. Our goal that America’s longevity never be broken, and that hard times always be followed by brighter days. Through times of war, depression, terrorism and uncertainty, American resolve has never wavered. Our country can only be as great as the people who inhabit it, and from this America is the greatest country on the planet.

The ultimate proof that the events of July 4, 1776 were successful is the fact that America still shines as a beacon of hope around the world. May God bless our troops and may God bless America. We pray that everyone has a safe and wonderful Independence Day.
